QUEENS, NY – Borough President Katz announced the appointments of Angelina Martinez-Rubio as General Counsel to the Borough President and Jennifer Walden Weprin as the Borough President’s Director of Cultural Affairs & Tourism.

“My team at Borough Hall will be stronger still with the addition of Angelina and Jennifer, two professionals who both share a commitment to public service and bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and perspectives,” said Borough President KATZ. “Angelina is a skilled attorney whose prior work at a number of City agencies and ability to navigate the intricacies of municipal regulations and administrative law are significant assets to our borough. Jennifer is a talented director with extensive experience in marketing, collaborating on large-scale programs and understanding the needs and strengths of a wide breadth of cultural institutions. I thank them both for their dedication to the borough of Queens.”

About Angelina Martinez-Rubio
Martinez-Rubio most recently served at the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) as Director of Special Projects to the First Deputy Commissioner since April 2014. Her duties there included assisting the First Deputy Commissioner with conducting DOT operations and serving as a liaison with DOT division and unit heads on a wide variety of issues. Martinez-Rubio worked closely with senior DOT staff on making policy determinations and on implementing important initiatives and projects. Previously, Martinez-Rubio was Associate General Counsel at the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH), at DOT and at the NYC Department of Buildings upon completing a prestigious post-graduate fellowship on City government at New York Law School’s Center for New York City Law.

Martinez-Rubio earned her J.D. from New York Law School, an M.B.A in Marketing from the University of Toledo and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Toledo.

About Jennifer Walden Weprin
Walden Weprin hails from the Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona as Director of Marketing & External Affairs since 2011, where she designed and implemented a marketing and programming strategy that yielded a 21 percent increase in museum visitors. In addition, Walden Weprin was responsible for creating the museum’s unified brand identity and developed the museum’s social media strategy to better harness the power of its brand and archival assets. Key projects included the CUNY Cultural Initiative Task Force, the 100th Anniversary of Louis Armstrong’s First Professional Gig, NYC Black History Month Five Boro Tour and the Queens Historical Holiday House Tour Planning Committee. Prior to the Louis Armstrong House Museum, Walden Weprin was an executive at Liberty Cable, Television USA, Queens Theatre and the Gold Coast Arts Center in Great Neck

Walden Weprin graduated from Binghamton University with a B.A. in History. She is an Executive Board Member of the Queens Tourism Council and does pro bono consulting for Fadeyev Ballet & the Queens Historical Society. She has also served as PTA Co-President at PS 188Q and as Vice President of the Presidents’ Council of Community School District 26. Walden Weprin currently resides in Hollis Hills with her husband and their three children.
