4/8/2009 FOR RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 2009 STATEMENT BY QUEENS BOROUGH PRESIDENT HELEN MARSHALL ON PUBLISHED REPORT RELATED TO JETBLUE’S POSSIBLE RELOCATION OF OFFICES
JETBLUE’S POSSIBLE RELOCATION OF OFFICES

I have reached out to Deputy Mayor Robert Lieber and asked that a team comprised of his office, the city’s Economic Development Corporation and my office be put together to develop a comprehensive plan that helps to ensure that JetBlue stays in Queens.

We will work to package a tax incentive program to make sure this happens.

I do not want JetBlue to leave Queens. They have been good neighbors, providing opportunities and jobs for residents in a location that has proximity to highways, buses and subways.

JetBlue has also made a major investment at JFK, where its recently opened terminal has become a centerpiece of the growth and expansion of that airport.

JetBlue has been, and continues to be, a vital component of our aviation industry, which is extremely important to our local economy.
