Queens Borough President Helen Marshall announced Wednesday, January 6th that the next meeting of her Economic Development Leadership Council will host Seth Pinsky, president of the city’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
The meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 14th in the second floor Conference Room of Queens Borough Hall, located at 120-55 Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens.
Mr. Pinsky is expected to talk about ways in which the EDC is using the City’s Capital Budget, along with federal stimulus dollars to work on infrastructure projects. Other items on the agenda include efforts to diversify the City’s economy to support traditional and emerging industries.
Marshall’s Economic Development Leadership Council provides information to small businesses about resources, funding opportunities and a multitude of services and programs to strengthen their future growth. “The Council also provides grass roots participation in business issues affecting the entire county,” said the Borough President. Members include representatives from the borough’s Business Improvement Districts, chambers of commerce, Local Development Corporations, merchant organizations and environmental business organizations.
The City’s EDC provides programs, projects and opportunities to help businesses grow and incentives that businesses can use to expand. The agency is charged with leveraging the city’s assets to drive growth and jobs.
“I thank President Pinsky for accepting the invitation to address the Council and look forward to working with him as we continue to strengthen small businesses here in Queens,” said Marshall. “From Queens Plaza to Willets Point to Rockaway, we are looking for ways to assist small businesses and help our economy thrive.”
