Queens Borough President Helen Marshall announced, Thursday, January 28th that the Queens Borough Board will hold a public hearing on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Fiscal Year 2011 Preliminary Capital and Expense Budgets on Tuesday, February 9th.
The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Room 213 at Queens Borough Hall, located at 120-55 Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens
Mayor Michael Bloomberg presented his Fiscal Year 2011 Preliminary Budget Thursday and a plan to close a $4.9 billion deficit.
Anyone who wishes to testify at the hearing should register ahead of time by calling 718-286-2900 between 9:30 a.m. and 5 P.M., Monday through Friday. The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. on February 8th. Three minutes for speaking will be allotted to those who testify in the order in which they registered. Those who testify should also bring 15 written copies of their testimony.
Those unable to attend the hearing can mail testimony to the attention of Ms. Carol Ricci, Queens Borough President’s Office, 120-55 Queens Boulevard, Room 250, Kew Gardens, New York 11424.
Under Section 241 of the City Charter, each Borough Board is required to hold at least one public hearing on the proposed budget “to obtain the views and recommendations of the community boards within the borough, residents of the borough and others with substantial interests in the borough…”
Testimony from the hearing will be used to develop the Queens Borough Board budget priorities for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1st.
The Queens Borough Board consists of the Borough President, the borough’s City Council delegation and the chairs of each of Queens’ 14 community boards.
Queens Borough Hall is within close walking distance of the Union Turnpike station on the E and F subway lines and various bus routes that stop at Union Turnpike on Queens Boulevard.
