WE LISTEN
This is the department that handles your questions and complaints. This is also the department that provides you with important phone numbers and links to applications and other resources.

We will need your name, address and telephone number, a description of the problem, and, if applicable, the location where the problem exists.

We will contact the appropriate agency and request that they take whatever action necessary in order to address the problem. If the problem persists, you should let us know.

Some problems such as 'there's an abandoned car in front of 136-12 Highland Avenue' can be addressed within a couple of days. Tree pruning or tree removal requests take quite a bit longer, sometimes many months before the problem is corrected.

ENERGY CONCERNS
After this summer's heat wave Con Edison reminds all New Yorkers to conserve energy as much as possible. Even something as simple as raising the setting on the thermostat by 2 degrees can make a big difference in citywide energy consumption. As winter approaches, we encourage all residents to be mindful of their energy usage. The following is a list of suggested measures that can be taken to reduce energy use:

  • Turn off non-essential perimeter lighting. This is the single most effective peak load emergency conservation measure you can take. It has the secondary benefit of reducing the air conditioning even if some task lighting is required. This is an important step.
  • Turn off non-essential outdoor lighting.
  • Turn off other lights and systems that are not needed, especially in unoccupied spaces and meeting rooms.
  • If you have computers, use the Energy Star power management feature that almost all computers have today. This causes the computer to go to “sleep” when not in use.
  • Increase the set-point on your air conditioning by a few degrees. (Systems vary, so this may mean different steps depending on the system).
