Title:  Medical Office Assistant Certificate Program

Details:
Designed per employer demand for multi-skilled workers, especially relevant in today’s challenging economy, the “Medical Office Assistant” Certificate program (MOA) addresses employer needs and therefore optimizes graduates’ employability. The program accomplished this by preparing the student with clinical and business skills central to operating a healthcare services office so that the entry level worker can function as a multi-tasking Specialist/Generalist. Students are prepared to acquire 4 major national certifications of (1) Coding through AHIMA the national’s premier health information association, (2) CPR through the American Heart Association, (3) EKG through the National Healthcareers Association, and (4) Phlebotomy through the National Healthcareers Association. This interdisciplinary approach allows the worker to explore the various aspects of an office healthcare worker to engage in strategic career planning that reflects realistic interests and skills. For Spring 2012 registrants only, NYS has generously awarded Queensborough with a special grant to significantly reduce the tuition cost by about 30% for the whole program. Additionally, students receive professional career counseling, job search assistance, and internship placement. Convenient courses take place on Queensborough’s Bayside campus in the evenings and some weekends. The total program can be completed in 1 semester and stretch out through 12/31/13 without a tuition increase. For more information, interested individuals may (1) come to an OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, 1/21/12, 9:30am-12 noon, at 222-05 56th Ave., Baysdie, NY 11364, in the Atrium of the Medical Arts Building, (2) Contact Sandra Greenstein, Career Counselor and Coordinator, 646-831-2613, sgreenstein@qcc.cuny.edu, (3) Visit www.qcc.cuny.edu/conted, 2012 catalog, pg. 13 and the Professional Development section.
