Call this number to report 'arborcide'; the illegal killing and or damaging
of a tree, or if a tree falls suddenly in a storm. If the tree is blocking
a street, a currently hazardous situation or someone has been injured
- call 911 of course!

The Queens Forestry Office handles inspections for routine tree maintenance such
as dead tree removal, stump removal, pruning or potentially hazardous
situtations caused by trees.

Planting...
Parks and Recreation has a free tree planting program in all five
boroughs of New York City. If you would like to request a tree, call
your local Community Board. If you
would like to plant your own tree, please contact your Borough Forestry
Office for a free permit at 1-718-699-0873. You can also call
the 'One Stop Tree Shop' in Manhattan 1-212-360-TREE and the Agency
will obtain the necessary permits and plant a tree for you. All it takes
is a phone call and a check (tax deductible), and a tree will be planted
in the next planting season (within 6 mos). |
