Welcome to the Queens Borough President's Traffic Safety Information Center! Over the past several years, the office has received funding from the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee enabling us to develop new initiatives and continue our ongoing educational programming to address the unique safety needs of our borough.

At this site you will find information on all traffic safety educational programming developed by the Borough President's office. These programs include:

  • The Queens Safety Puppet Theatre, designed to teach children in kindergarten through second grade about traffic safety;
  • The Queens Senior Safety Theatre Troupe, which imparts a traffic safety awareness message to senior residents of the borough; and
  • The "Road Warriors" teen program, geared to teenagers who have just received or are about to receive their drivers' licenses.

You will also find information about the Queens Traffic Safety Board. In 1997, the Borough President's office created the first Queens Traffic Safety Board. The Board's primary mission is to promote pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety and reduce traffic related injuries and fatalities. Board members comprise a cross-section of City and State agencies, law enforcement, insurance companies, hospitals and health care providers, business associations, community board and veterans, disabled, civic and other advocacy community groups. Queens is the first borough to establish its own Traffic Safety Board.

To assist you further in answering your driving, transportation and commuter questions we have provided direct links to such agencies as the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, New York City Transit and the Long Island Rail Road, just to name a few.
