Free Creative Writing Class For Teens & Writing Contest! @ Queens Library at Ridgewood

Attention Queens parents, teachers, and kids: Free creating writing classes and writing contest for kids!

Newtown Literary Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting writing and poetry in Queens, in partnership with Queens Library and City Council Members Daniel Dromm and Elizabeth Crowley, is offering free creative writing classes for kids and teens.

The next class is Saturday, December 9th at 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Queens Library at Ridgewood, located at 20-12 Madison St.:

“What a Character!”

Develop a fun and interesting character from even one small detail, using your imagination and powers of observation! We often imagine characters in our head but don’t give them enough attention when we write about them. In this workshop, we will explore what makes an interesting/compelling character, and learn how our everyday ability to notice the world around us can help us be better writers.

Nadia Q. Ahmad is former Program Associate at the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, and her work has been published in The Margins and Newtown Literary.

One student in each class will be randomly selected to receive a free hardcover notebook to keep all their writing in!
