Join the YWCA of Queens to register your child for free summer programs with the Fresh Air Fund!
The Fresh Air Fund offers a free overnight weeklong summer camp in upstate NY for children ages 8-15 (first-time applicants for girls up to age 12). In addition, they offer the Friendly Town program, for children to have weeklong overnight stays with a host family in the rural northeast U.S. (first-time applicants between ages 7-12).
Requirements: Children must live in and attend school in New York City. They must be eligible for free or reduced-fare school lunch if they attend public school. In the event that they don’t attend public school, their household must meet certain income eligibilities.
Medical forms (will be provided) must be completed by the child’s physician and be sent to the Fresh Air Fund or one of their agency partners to complete applications. Please bring the child’s health insurance card and Benefit card if they have one. Only child’s parent or legal guardian may complete the enrollment.
The Fresh Air Fund has been providing children from NYC with free overnight trips for over a century. The YWCA of Queens looks forward to partnering with them to serve your family.
