          Panelist Bios

  • Inspector Tommy Ng was born and raised in Hong Kong and immigrated to New York City at the age of 16. He was appointed to the New York City Police Department in April 1997, and began his career on patrol in the 61st Precinct in Brooklyn. 

    Inspector Ng is currently assigned to Special Projects at Patrol Borough Queens North. He previously served as the Commanding Officer of the 5th Precinct in Chinatown and 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park. He is the first Chinese American to hold the position of Commanding Officer in two patrol precincts. Inspector Ng also served as an Executive Officer in both the 111th Precinct in Bayside and 109th Precinct in Flushing.

    Inspector Ng holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Finance from Brooklyn College.  He is also a 2016 graduate from the Columbia University Police Management Institute.

  • David Lin is the FDNY Candidate Physical Ability Test and Fitness Awareness Program Training Coordinator for the Office of Recruitment and Retention. He joined the FDNY in 2005 as an Employee Discipline Investigator. Since then, he has served as an EEO Instructor and Liaison, Recruiter Trainer and Asian Outreach Coordinator for Community Affairs. He is also certified as an EMT-B.

    David is the Co-Founder and President of the FDNY Phoenix Society, an affiliated organization whose purpose is to be united in the efforts of promoting the interest and welfare of FDNY personnel who are Asian, Asian-American or of Asian descent. David graduated from SUNY Buffalo in 2005 with a BA in Psychology. He also attended Edward R. Murrow High School and resides in Brooklyn.

  • Dr. Lillian Wong, an Attending Emergency Department Physician at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, (AECOM) in 2010. Dr. Wong completed an Emergency Medicine residency at NYU/Bellevue in 2014 and a Simulation Fellowship at IMSAL in 2016. Prior to joining the Emergency Medicine faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine, Dr. Wong held the faculty title of Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at AECOM.  Her current interests include Simulation Education and resident wellness. She speaks English, and a dialect of Cantonese Chinese known as Toisan.
